Economic Empowerment Programs

The objective of our economic development programs is to empower women and girls by teaching them a trade. After a period of three months, participants in our women empowerment initiatives can provide extra income for their households and contribute to family expenses. As a Canadian Registered Charitable organization, our ultimate goal is to support the less fortunate through initiatives like our glass recycling program.

In 2020, ROOTA mobilized funds to support economic development programs by donating home looms, table looms, upright looms, and sewing/quilting machines to Zabaleen women. These donations are part of our women empowerment initiatives aimed at helping them create self-sustaining income and achieve economic independence. Join us in our mission to stop the cycle of poverty.

ROOTA initiated a home loom program as part of its economic development programs to support the Zabaleen women by providing home looms in their shacks. We visit these women and assign a carpenter to design a loom that fits their space, allowing them to work from home and produce additional income to contribute to family expenses. This initiative is aligned with our broader women empowerment initiatives, fostering self-sufficiency in the community. Additionally, our glass recycling program complements these efforts by promoting sustainability.
